WHO WOULD BASS USE? EQUIPMENT HIRE

Updated: Mar 6

We are asked all the time to recommend services in resort and we see this as an honoured responsibility. You ask us about airport transfers, restaurants, chalet companies, child care and even which other ski schools to use when we are full. But most of all you ask for recommendations about ski hire.

To be recommended by us a company has to be one we have used, enjoyed and trust or at least have a trusted reputation which our clients have given a 5-star rating. One of those companies is Snowberry Ski Hire in Val D’Isere.

This Christmas my wife decided she wanted to hire instead of dragging her old faithfuls through Geneva airport for the 100th time. So of course I recommended Snowberry.

And of course I had to explain why, other than excellent feedback from our clients, I would make them our first choice. (see ‘More Information’ lower down)

Booking

She booked on line in a few clicks using our BASS discount code (333BSS  -35%) put in all here sizes and requirements and even made notes about pick up. She chose to pick her skis up from Snowberry’s slope-side shop as that was the closest to our accommodation.

Collecting

We rocked up on the first morning and received a friendly greeting from Jenny. The skis were waiting for us, labelled with the notes made online. As every wife has a right to do, mine changed her mind about the skis she wanted due to better snow conditions than we expected. They didn’t have the exact model at the shop, but this was no problem for the efficient Jenny who had the perfect pair delivered in 5 minutes. Boots were fitted, poles selected and we were on the slopes just over the road no more that 10 minutes after entering the shop.

The skis my partner chose were the Kastle MX75 Piste – Racecarve Premium 2024 Model

She loved them! Ideal for her accurate carved turns on all slopes, she even enjoyed them in the bits of fresh powder we explored. The skis were well tuned and in great condition. All in all a very satisfactory experience and why we will be recommending Snowberry to our Val D’Isere clients again next year.

Top Tip

Always rent the newest equipment that you can get hold of. Make sure it is correct for your level and suitable for the type of skiing you are going to be doing. It makes a huge difference to your skiing. Fat skis don’t carve up the firm piste and racing skis don’t float through the powder.

More Information

EQUIPMENT QUALITY

Snowberry is one of the few equipment rental centres where you can actually rent proper high-end 'retail specific' skis and boots, including many of the top models available from the main, well known, manufacturers ranges. If you rent an expert ski, you get an expert ski, not a cheap rental version that will not perform as well.

BOOTS & BOOTFITTING

Ask any ski instructor if they had to ski without their own skis or boots, which couldn’t they do without? Boots will be the answer every time. For this reason, Snowberry have developed their own unique ‘3-step’ boot-fitting process based on exactly the same principles you would experience in one of the world’s leading retail fitting centres.

LEVELS

They have 5 different ability levels of adult skis and 2 of junior skis available from beginner to special expert / pro. When booking you select your ability level and we also allow you to select the age of your skis by selecting from Premium, Premium Plus or Eco ranges.
