My daughter and I had a private ski instructor ( Dave ) for a couple of lessons last week. The lessons were really good and offered lots of good instruction. Dave made the experience very enjoyable while advancing our ski skills. I can thoroughly recommend both Dave and B A S. Top team.

great experience with BASS last week in Val D’Isere. A very enjoyable ski school experience for our 14 year old daughter, with a small group of only 6-7, and an equally great experience with private lessons for the rest of the family. Would recommend without hesitation.

We have been using Bass for a few years now for our girls; now 6 and 7. Hands down the best ski school for children (we have also tried others). Instructors are kind, credible and deliver great coaching. Our children always enjoy the experience. In Val both Luke and Dave have been exceptionally good.

Just a quick note to say that this week has been the most amazing week… as Joe knows I don’t love skiing and I’m far from being a natural! This yr he not only had me skiing a black, without realising I was skiing a black, but he made me realise that I could ski (I’m a slow learner). My mantra has gone from ‘Joe is the only person who can keep me skiing’ to ‘Joe and I had the most amazing afternoon.
I’m already looking forward to next year!

We can't think of any negatives for the middle of the sandwich, other than needing more time!!!
It was an enjoyable 6 hours and helped us all enormously.
By the end of our week I'd like to think we were all skiing "more like Dave" and "less like Andrew".
Hopefully we can do it again sometime and Ariane can give Dave some tips!

Happy new year 2024 !!!
Back to Val d’Isere and a great week had by all. We joined friends and the 4 teenagers had morning lessons for 6 days. Dave kept them entertained .. learning new techniques/skills, jumps, the snow park, hot chocolates and crepes!
Dave was very friendly, punctual and clearly an experienced skier. He was flexible too at meetings points when our plans changed.
Avery positive experience! Thank you again. We also thoroughly enjoyed the torchlit decent down Le Face - and the vin chaude!
Would highly recommend Big Wave Dave. We will be back!

Dave has been brilliant!
Our 4 teenagers thought he was marvelous! Fantastic instruction, flexible, adaptable
and really lovely guy. He truly went above and beyond to help the children (and us!).
It was also great to finally meet Steve, who helped us quickly and efficiently navigate the skills that needed recording for my sons GCSE module in Skiing. Including videoing and forwarding them on to us with notes.
We have always been really impressed with the BASS Team and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Ella was a wonderful, patient, expert and kind teacher. I felt extremely comfortable as a nervous beginner with her obvious skill and reassuring guidance. Thank you! This is the second time we have used BASS ski school and I would definitely recommend.

Excellent introduction to moguls

Andrew gave an excellent introduction to moguls at the Chill Factore in Manchester. I have not really skied moguls successfully before and Andrew gave me several drills to do including pole pivots with braquage turns to add rhythm and short turns which are techniques needed for not only moguls but throughout your skiing journey. I would recommended seeking Andrew's coaching if you’re in the UK or travelling to France!

A Superb Week with BASS

Just returning home from a week in Val D'Isere.
We had a private family lesson with Dave and my children had five days' tuition with Craig. It was a different experience to any ski-schools we have used before. Ultimately BASS does what it says on the tin - it is a British ski school, with British highly skilled, very personable ski instructors catering for the British market. Whilst the focus on "British" might not always be the perfect recipe for other aspects of a holiday, for ski tuition it worked exceptionally well.
After safety, the emphasis with BASS is clearly on fun and children always progress so much more when they are enjoying themselves. Dave was brilliant with us on the first day in our private lesson and the kids just loved Craig, his methods of teaching and his infectious enthusiasm. We had a couple of days of bad weather, days where you anticipate collecting some glum faces, but they were still smiling and happy and raring to go again.
I have no doubt that Craig, Dave and the team can instruct at the highest level but for those of us that ski once a year, the objective for our children is for them to be safe, to make progress, have fun and look forward to coming back next year. BASS ticked all those boxes and more.
On the final day we agreed that we may come back to Val D'Isere next year, principally so that our kids can carry on their tuition under the stewardship of Craig, Dave and the BASS team. I guess that speaks for itself.

BASS....simply the best!

BASS is different, they have become great friends as well as great instructors and guides! We have been fortunate that over the past 5 years our now teenage children have had the benefit of the best ski lessons and experience from Steve, Craig and the BASS team in Val D’Isere.
This year the kids graduated black group and it hit home to me how far they have come from the first lesson with BASS as they flew past me on a very icy Plan M, demonstrating great skills under complete control and laughing with their friends.
When they started with BASS at the age of 11 and 9 they had 3 years of lessons with ESF and had not enjoyed the experience. I was fortunate to have got to know Steve, Craig and Conkey from guiding in another resort. Steve said to head to Val and give BASS a try with the kids....the lessons are small groups (usually max 8 at half term) with English speakers (well - Wigan and Glasgow mainly!).
It was the best decision we ever made, The kids loved it so much, they asked to go back every year, making great friends in their group (as have the parents) and looking forward each year to their week skiing with Steve and Craig.
This year our half term was early so the group was only the four friends, BASS didn’t try to add in inappropriate level skiers, they took them all over the mountains in tricky conditions and had yet another amazing week. Sadly Steve wasn’t in resort (as he was sorting out BASS Norway - which we will have to try) but Craig has become the new favourite anyway (sorry Steve)!
Given how good they are, I decided to have a morning guiding/lesson with one of the new additions to the BASS team (Dave), this proved to be a morning well spent as I learned how to properly ski Le Face at pace...
I will be back for lessons and whilst the kids might have graduated ski school, they are looking forward to guiding by BASS next year! A long way from refusing to ever go in a lesson again.....
I could genuinely wax lyrical about how good BASS are....but have run out of words....

"The best instructor ever"

We just returned from Val d'Isere having booked three boys (6,7 and 8) in for 5 days of lessons with BASS. Previously we have used ESF and Oxygen, but with it being french half term week we wanted to ensure the boys weren't left in groups of non-English speakers. It was a great decision. The boys were apprehensive going in, but within one lift and run their instructor Elliot had them smiling, laughing and wanting the parents to disappear. The good news was due to it not being a UK holiday the boys were in their own private group of three. The bad news was we were hit on the first two days with really bad weather with many lifts closed and it being too cold for little people. We were super pleased therefore when Elliot cancelled the lessons, opting instead to make up the time on the following days. This common sense and flexibility showed it's more than just a job for these guys. The boys all progressed brilliantly, moving to parallel turns, skiing from Val to Tignes and back and it was amazing to see the jump in confidence. The best summary comes from the boys: Elliot "was the beat instructor ever!"

Absolutely fab lessons with BASS Val D'Isere

I went to Val in Jan 2020 as a complete ski beginner ( I had ski'd once before) and booked some lessons with Craig at BASS. Firstly, the office is super organised and helpful. Craig is an excellent instructor and took me from complete beginner to getting confidently down some reds by the end of the week. Having had a bad ski experience before, I was probably a bit nervous but he didn't even mention it and just cracked on teaching me. I really learnt some amazing tips for getting around and I loved our trip on the last day where we went all over the place. I highly recommend Craig, a brilliant experience, if I am back in Val, I won't go anywhere else and I look forward to more treks across the mountains, fab. I will actually look forward to my next ski trip!!

Fantastic ski instructors

BASS ski school were a lifesaver at Val D’Isere for us, I booked a 3 hour private lesson for myself and my 2 children, Craig was out instructors he was great and we were all skiing by the end of that lesson. After injuring my knee on day 3 I booked 2 further 2 hour sessions to help out my friend (as being the only adult with 4 children aged 12-14 all of different skiing abilities was too much to ask). Joe was great for those 2 sessions, he really made the holiday in terms of taking my friend and the 4 children on some amazing ski adventures they would likely have never experienced if we were just skiing as a family. I’d highly recommend booking with BASS.

Great British ski instructors

Joe taught my two young children, all week for 2hrs a week. After each day the kids were beaming having had a really fun lesson. At the start of the week I could barely get them down a green, by the end we were skiing in formation down reds. Thank you Joe!

This was the second year Joe Cain taught out family. He's a lovely man and great at reassuring me (a nervous skier) and lots of fun for my boys (teenagers) when they have their lessons, taking them to places where they can do fun, hard skiing.
We will be booking early, again, to make sure Joe is available the week we are in resort next year.

Good English speakers and fun kids' ski lessons

This was a hit with five children as the instructors are Brits and so the children could understand them fully. The instructors had groups of 6-8 kids over half term and gave the children a really fun experience with off piste and exploring as well as technique.
It was not suitable for a very advanced skier though although to be fair it is not really targeted at that level.

Fantastic coaching

2 lots of 5 day private lessons for one adult and two boys from Steve and James at the BASS. The guys were outstanding. They really understand how to help you improve and develop, with no pressure, but just the right amount of challenge. We've all enjoyed and progressed immensely. Can't recommend highly enough.

Yet again amazing!

We have used BASS two years in a row and have been really impressed. I am a beginner and the small group sizes have been amazing and having adult only also really helps. I have been taught by both Lauder and Joe who have helped me improve more than I could imagine as I've only had two weeks on the snow. They really helped me surpass my goals!!
I was very nervous to start with both times but they were really patient. My boyfriend who has had Craig as his instructor both time has really benefitted from his help and guidance even mastering his first black run!
Also Sam in the office was super helpful when it came to booking and sorting out all our lessons!
Would definitely highly recommend these guys! And would use them again!

We had a really useful 2 hour lesson with Lauder, one of the BASS instructors. He was patient and encouraging, and worked with what we wanted to improve. A great start to our week's skiing and we are noticing the difference. It was worth the money.
