Val d’Isere

Has long been one of the most popular ski resorts, particularly with the Brits, for many reasons. Having started life way back in the 11th century as a village, rather than being purpose-built as a resort, it still has a traditional charm.

It has one of the longest seasons in the Alps – from December to May – and access to 300km of Espace Killy piste makes it a paradise for skiers and boarders of all levels. Its off-piste, too, has a reputation for being some of the world’s best.

Though you would think it a playground for the rich, Val d’Isere actually has something to suit all budgets and a thriving community.
